Our Mission:

"Together we transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities."

Our Vision:

"A Safe and Healthy Home for Everyone."

About Us, Our History, Vision and Mission

Rebuilding Together started with the simple act of neighbors helping neighbors in 1973, when a small group of people in Midland, Texas realized a growing need in their community. Their neighbors’ homes had fallen into disrepair and the homeowners could not afford to fix them on their own. They volunteered their time and skills to rehabilitate the homes of their neighbors. Realizing the potential impact of this work, the group formed Christmas in April, with the intent of performing repair and rehabilitation work in their community every April.

News of the group’s good work spread slowly, but eventually achieved national recognition. The mission spread beyond the idea of providing service once a year in April to bringing together partners from all walks of life to help our neighbors year-round. We became Rebuilding Together and opened the national office in 1988. Today, Rebuilding Together has grown into  the premier nonprofit housing organization, garnering five consecutive four-star ratings from Charity Navigator.

Rebuilding Together is a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing with more than 40 years of experience. Together, with our corporate and community partners, we transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities. Rebuilding Together’s local affiliates and nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects nationwide each year.

REBUILDING TOGETHER, PLATTE VALLEY EAST IN FREMONT IS CELEBRATING OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARY IN 2017...TEN YEARS AND BUILDING!

In March of 2007, Rebuilding Together, Platte Valley East, Inc. was established with a mission of bringing volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners.

Our first director worked faithfully out of her home  on a part-time basis with a small budget of $32,000.  From those humble beginnings, Rebuilding Together has rapidly expanded our capacity to be able to support a full-time Executive Director,  part-time Development Manager and a part-time Project Staff person with an office and a budget of over $200,000 in 2017.

As we grow, we continue to expand our capacity to assist more homeowners, including offering a year-round emergency repair and home modification program for elderly and disabled homeowners, our annual participation in National Rebuilding Day, our vital partnership with the Catholic Heart Work Camp and a fall Clean-up and Rebuilding Day event.  In June of 2015, Rebuilding Together voted to expand our program outreach by opening a branch office in North Bend, NE.

We have an active and engaged Board of Directors and several committees that work together to improve our operations, fundraising and community outreach so that we can continue to increase our capacity to meet the ongoing needs of homeowners in the Fremont and the greater surrounding area.

THANK YOU to everyone who gives of your time and resources to make Rebuilding Together a success!
